I am pretty excited to own my first MAC lipstick and hence thought of reviewing it. As some of you might know, I was hunting for a slightly darker shade from brown family which would not look too gothic but lift and brighten the face without looking over the top. My Take on MAC Viva Glam III:

It is my first love from MAC and suits me really the way I wanted it. Dark but not in an aunty way, if you know what I mean ;) The packaging is glam like all MAC Viva Glam range and I like it!

Viva Glam III is a soft, muted, matte finish lipstick that is moisturizing. Since it is a matte finish, the color of this lipstick is pretty pigmented and gives a beautiful finish in just one swipe. I would describe the color as a nice pink-based brown with plum undertones. It comes on as a nice brown as you apply and wears off leaving behind plum effect. The color is buildable and either ways – single swipe or multiple; is a flattering shade.

This lipstick is neither very creamy nor very drying, perfect matte it is. My lips feel considerably softer and moisturized every time I apply this lipstick.

The staying power of this lipstick is pretty good. It stays for around 6 hours. It also survives a meal leaving behind a nice plum trail. It fades as a beautiful brownish plum stain.

Pros of MAC Viva Glam III:

Beautiful muted foxy brown-plum shade in a matte finish that makes it a very wearable and yet bold color.
Quite moisturizing as far as matte lipsticks go.
Doesn’t settle in the fine lines and does not feather.
Benefits from this lipstick supports people suffering from AIDS.

Cons of MAC Viva Glam III:

It might be slightly drying for some.

If you are looking for a unique shade of brown with plum undertones, this would the best shade! Plus it dual ability to be used as a muted day wear or dark and bold evening wear, surely makes it a winner in glam range.

I am really on an Inglot and Chambor, the lipsticks they have an absolute delight, and hence I picked up these delicate looking lipsticks. Today’s pick is a deep brown, a true brown with bronzey undertones, I think if you like browns you can read one otherwise no point m0447 Chambor Truly Lasting Lipstick Truly Terracotta

The lipsticks comes in a pretty slim pack and you get really little quantity though, but it is really worth every paise! I like the simple matte blue packaging and yes it may sound a little overpriced but you have to give it to the brand for being so consistently standard with quality , unlike Colorbar who has gone bad with the velvet matte lipsticks!

This is a true brown, like a deeper brown and most of us have worn such a brown at some point in the past, it does not add any color or brightness to my face, hence I find the shade a little heavy and makes me look little mature :/ but having said that brown is not a bad color and this is a nicer version of brown for sure.

The texture is smooth and buttery, it might look very fragile but it is not, just roll up a little bit of the lipstick and not the whole thing:p or else it is so slim that it may break for sure. The feel is super moisturizing and soft, great for dry lips apparently!

The lipsticks says that there will be a cool tingling feel after application, I had that cool minty sensation for one and half minutes after which I thought my lips looked plumper and saucy, just how I like it It has minty smell too, I quite like it. It glides very soft and it is a delight to apply this lipstick.

I like how this brown has some hint of bronze or gold its not a boring brown, this range has a nice glistening finish, glossy but it glistens under the light, very fresh.You might not like it if you like mattes.I love the minty caramel-y feel to it as well.It makes my lips look plumper.

Coming to the staying power, it looks glossy for an hour, will not survive a meal and it looks colored for another hour or two like most lipsticks, so nothing significant there since the texture is so creamy, I don’t expect that either.But for the light and soft texture it has, it stays pretty well, I had thought it would not considering it is not thick.

Over all these look a little overpriced, but the texture is to die for, a really nice and buttery feel to it and minty flavor or fragrance, try this range at the counter, Chambor’s quality will not disappoint you.

I’ ve heard about Loreal lipsticks a lot, its been over a year I have it with me, I use it very rarely but eventually I realized this queen was sleeping in my box!So read on to know how did things go with me.

The product claims that’s its solid lip color formula changes into liquid glossy color as you trace it on your lips.

The lipstick gives you a creamy and moisturizing effect while sporting glossy and shiny color on your lips.

Packaging- Silver twist up lipstick pack.

Shade patch on the bottom of the lipstick.The Silver package has L’oreal in scripted on it.

My take on L’oreal Glam Shine Cream lipstick:

When I first glided that thing on my lips, it just melted and it is was so creamy. Just one swipe gives the perfect colour and shine. The lipstick is nice, smooth and pigmentation is rather okay. I opted for this brown shade as I had lot of pinks with me. The shine and the smoothness is one really goody goody thing about this lipstick.

The range has a lot of shades of pinks and browns, the sheen of the lip colour lasts for about 3-4 hours, it moisturizes lips and makes your lips soft. The fragrance is the thing I did not really liked, it has that weird kind of smell which does not last long but yes when you use it you can sniff some weird fragrance which I cannot define. No the fragrance is not bad but I kind of did not like it.
The product does live up to its claims, also I did not find my lips drying or getting chapped.

Summing up the pros of L’oreal Glam Shine Cream Lipstick – Chic Brown-

Super smooth.

MAC Pro Longwear Lip Creme – Heart Hangover Review

I recently got hold of a few lipsticks from my mom’s vanity when I went home and I thought I will review one of her favorite lipsticks today. My mom is literally in love with MAC Pro Longwear Lip Creme in the shade “Heart Hangover.” I have been meaning to review this lipstick since a few months now, but it got missed every time. Today, I am finally getting hold of it and reviewing it.

About the Product:

Lightweight texture, creamy finish and comfortable longwear combine in this has-it-all-pro-class lip color. Slick in use, applies without need of top coat- and still lasts upto 12 hours. Won’t feather or transfer, and the color stays true. Helps lips stay soft and dehydrated.

My Experience with MAC Pro Longwear Lip Creme – Heart Hangover:

MAC Pro Longwear Lip Creme comes in a long, slender black case. The case has some glossy touch to it. The bottom of the case mentions the name of the lipstick. The bullet is flat at the top and is more round. The flat top sometimes poses a problem while applying the lipstick at edges of the lips. The case is quite sturdy and because of an effective lock, there are hardly any chances that it will open in the purse by itself.

Heart Hangover is a deep maroon color with a touch of brown in it. The shade is completely matte and has no touch of any gloss or sparkle in it. This shade will suit all skin tones very well. It is a good choice for dusky skin tones because it won’t wash them out. This shade is quite versatile because it can be worn at casual outings, at office and for parties too.

The best thing about this lipstick is its staying power. It stays on my mom’s lip for almost the entire day and she is in love with this lipstick because of this. A single swipe gives the intense color and no further touch ups are required the entire day. It survives meals and drinks with negligible fading. So, she prefers to use it whenever she has to travel and whenever she knows she will be too busy to do touchups the entire day.

This lip creme is highly pigmented. It isn’t moisturizing but it doesn’t dry out her lips at all. It is better to apply a lip balm beneath it in winters. It can be applied as such in summers. It is highly pigmented and a single swipe is enough for a dark maroon color. It glides on like a dream on lips and fades evenly too. It doesn’t settle in fine lines or patches at all. It doesn’t smudge or bleed and is definitely transfer resistant.

Pros of MAC Pro Longwear Lip Creme – Heart Hangover:

A versatile maroon color with hint of brown it it. It will suit almost all skin tones and can be worn almost anywhere.
Awesome staying power.
Glides on very smoothly on lips.
Nicely pigmented.
Doesn’t transfer.
Doesn’t settle in lines or patches.
Doesn’t smudge or bleed.
Fades evenly.
Isn’t drying.

I haven’t picked any Faces Go Chic Lipstick for more than a month now. Recently, when I spotted them at the Faces counter, I felt guilty and decided to pick a different shade. Plum is not my usual pick, but this one was different. Read on to know further.

My Take on Faces Go Chic Lipstick – Plummed:

This Faces Go Chic lipstick comes in a black body with the silver band on which the brand’s name is written. The lipstick comes in a twist-up bullet. They have the name and number of the shade at one end. The packaging is small and glossy black, that’s ideal for rough handling too. The shade “Plummed” is a dirty plum shade. There is no shimmer. This is not a flattering shade at the same time. The texture is in line with the range. Though not buttery, it is creamy enough. The lipstick is medium pigmented, but good enough to cover pigmented lips in two swipes. The staying power is also decent and in line with the range. It stays for around 4 hours.

Pros of Faces Go Chic Lipstick – Plummed:

Today, I am going to review MUA Makeup Academy Lipstick in Shade 9. I asked my friend to get MUA’s cosmetics for me from Superdrug store in Belfast and lipstick in shade 9 is one among them. Why not pick a shade you have not tried before and get a new look? It is just £1 after all, did we already mention that?

My Experience with MUA Lipstick in Shade 9:

MUA’s lipstick in Shade 9 is a neutral peachy pink color with a very slight hint of brown. It has got very fine shimmer and has a frosty finish. The texture of the lipstick is very creamy and glides on like butter. It has got an artificial scent to it which isn’t very strong and vanishes in 2-3 seconds.

I am not a fan of frosty finish but this color looks beautiful after application m0446 MUA Lipstick in Shade 9 Review The pigmentation is on the sheer side, 2-3 swipes are able to hide only mild pigmentation (that is probably because of the frosty finish), but not the heavy one.

I personally feel that it is best to apply frosty finishes using a lip brush. The lipstick is very moisturizing but the lips need to be well exfoliated else the finish looks uneven and patchy. The lipstick doesn’t settle into the fine lines and doesn’t feel heavy on the lips.

It lasts on my lips for around one-and-half to two hours and fades away evenly leaving a slight shimmery frost behind (without any drinks and meal). The packaging is great for its price with lip color in a small pot at the bottom for reference and can be unscrewed. Because of the creamy texture, the lipstick may melt and break if not kept in a cool environment. This shade may not suit all the skin tones. Pros of MUA Lipstick in Shade 9:

Beautiful neutral shade for everyday wear.

Very moisturizing.
Fades away evenly.
Even if you don’t like frosty finish, you can give this a try as it costs just £1

Cons of MUA Lipstick in Shade 9:

Transferable.
Low staying power.
May not suit all skin types.
Pigmentation is on the sheer side.
Tends to melt if not kept in cool environment.

Like I told you here i have some more to review, do you now think of Neha when you hear Chambor powder matte m0447 Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick Indiana Fusion Well I dont know but there is such a dearth of out and out matte lipsticks not that I really want to exhaust this range, got some to review, dont give up yet!

An Innovative Formulated Lipstick which has both Moisturizer + Matte Effect in it. Powder Matte Lipsticks have a Non-Drying Triple Action Formula which:

The packaging again is a matte, I am starting to find it quite drab honestly. The shade of this one is a true brick red brown kinds. The packaging is similar to the moisture plus ones just that the other ones are silver, I love the rose imprint on the Chambor products and more or less all my Chambor products have turned out top class but this one!

I am starting to get bored of the dull blue packaging and I have to tell you something funny about these, as they grow older they turn creamier, :p trust me, not even with the heat but with time I feel. This one and the fantiasie nacre one both are far from expiry still they feel little dry and less pigmented and they don’t feel that creamy, where as the others are still creamier, I don’t know why may be the pigmentation is different from each others, the oldest one in Brique rose is the creamiest till date m0447 Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick Indiana Fusion

This one too feels like any other matte honestly, it is fine nothing creamy or anything,the shade is a softer brick brown and is a classic shade from the 90s i feel, it does not feel thick but it does feel dry, you feel like swiping it on and on to get a coat, the texture feels like any other matte you might have tried.

The staying power is great since it feels dry, it survives meals but gets very patchy and dry on the lips. The lips feel and look dry so if you have dry lips, skip this.It could look patchy too if you are in the aircon.It stays matte hence does not bleed, I think it should be great for pigmented lips but dry lips stay away.

Rimmel London Volume Booster Lipstick in Glam 117 Review

Hello Beautiful dolls!! How is everything going? I have been long searching for a neutral shade of lipstick and have been trying out a lot of shades at different stores and finally bought a n**e lip colour from Rimmel. Today, I will be reviewing the same.

My Experience with Rimmel London Volume Booster Lipstick in Glam 117:

The lipstick comes in a shiny red colour tube with a crown inscribed on the top. The crown is the official logo of Rimmel. Its gives a classy look to the case and I personally like that. The lipstick is smooth and soft in texture which makes it quite easy for even application of lip colour on the lips. I wouldn’t call this shade completely n**e as it has a hint of brown in it. Moreover, it gives a shiny look to the lips.

The USP of this lipstick or I must say the volume booster range of lipstick is that you get a minty feeling on application. I guess its because of the volume booster property of this lipstick. It moisturizes lips quite well. There aren’t any cracks on the lips while applying it. I even didn’t find the need to apply a lip balm under it. Moreover, this shade can be used as a base colour for others lip colours too as it gives a smooth and shiny finish.

This shade goes well with most of my outfits. Its quite a wearable colour. It can be worn at occasions as well at office too. Its my current favourite and have been wearing all the time on a daily basis. Hope you gals also try out this range and do let me know how was your experience.

Today, I will be reviewing another of my favorite lipstick from VOV. This one is my third lipstick from this brand and I love them to the core. I am much into natural shades these days and my undying hunt for them made me discover this one. Since my other two VOV lipsticks are matte, this time I thought of trying one of another kind. The shade number is mentioned as CL-21. Though the shade name is not mentioned, it is of natural peach color kind. Testers are available, so one needn’t get confused with the shades.

My Experience with VOV Lipstick in shade No. CL-21:

I have been using it for two weeks now and I have not a single word against it. It won my heart, oops! lips. It comes in a metal packaging where the shade number is printed on the sticker at one end.

The bullet of the lipstick moves up and down with twisting movement, and the lid closes snugly with a “tick.” This shade is peach with hints of pink, perfect for day wear.

This kind of shades makes lips look naturally pink and not at all made-up. It has medium pigmentation with a buttery texture which is creamy to apply. As a result, it glides softly and allows easy application. It moisturizes my lips in a smooth, even finish that stays as long as 3-4 hours.

The color lightens a little after eating, but doesn’t get transferred easily. It is completely odorless unlike my other two VOV lipsticks. I am happy they came with the full ingredients list this time.

Inglot Round Lipstick Refill #78

Hello IMBB women…

Today I am going to review the shade #78 from Inglot freedom system round lipstick refill. Enough has been said about how much I adore the formula of these lipsticks. One point that I have missed out is that if you consider the amount of the product that comes for the price, this might not be the most economical deal out there. But honestly how many of us use up a whole lipstick? Are we not wasting half of the money by keeping half of the lipstick till expiry? I believe this small size gives me the freedom to try and buy so many varieties of shades and finish them up before expiry or giving away. Probably that is why this has been named freedom system.

Texture:

Rich, creamy, smooth, glides on lips like dream. I cannot find any more new words to add to the beauty of this product. I have said it all and all of them apply for this particular shade as well.

Pigmentation:

Very very nice. One swipe is enough for covering the pigmented lips. This particular shade can be built up by applying multiple swipes.

Staying Power:

The lipstick is in cream finish but the staying power is as good as a long staying lipstick. It survives snacks and tea/coffee easily. The particular shade does not stain lips.

My experience with Inglot Round Lipstick Refill #78:

This is my color. No matter how much I try to drive myself toward brighter shades for summer, I always keep coming back to my neutrals. They are like staple “dal chawal” for me. The shade is the best mix of orange and brown. It has faint pink undertones which helps to brighten up thecae and not looking a boring dull face.

Among the 5 shades I have recently picked this is my favorite. I have been wearing this even at home, without any reason at all. By the way, the moisture it imparts can be visible in the lip swatches. There are days when you do not have a clue on which lipstick to put on, this might come handy on those indecisive days. Also this is a great shade for office wear if you wear neutrals but still want to have some richness in the shade.

I am on cloud nine with these lipstick refills. Got my list ready to get the second batch, oh am so excited!

Packaging:

The packaging is really cute. The moment I laid my eyes on it I just couldn’t get my eyes off it. It has a thick pink colored cap which protects the lipstick inside. Even if you drop it won’t break. The inner part of the lipstick is silver with a very cute bunny below it. You have to rotate that bunny to get the lipstick out. Every girl is going to love this product. I guess I am not going to throw it even after I finish it

My take on Play Boy Calendar Girl Lipstick – Miss September:

Its light Brazilian brown in color. It’s very very highly pigmented. Just one stroke and your good to go. The staying power is amazing 5 hours. It’s very moisturizing. It does everything it claims. It’s good for an evening wear. And if I do want to wear it at day time, what I do is, apply concealer on my lips with my finger tips and then apply this lipstick. I love the result it gives and it stays even longer with a concealer below it.

Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Very Coffee

Today, I’m going to review yet another shade of the lipstick that has, in very little time, become one of the cult favorites for Indian women – Colorbar Velvet Matte lipstick. It’s amazing how at least one review on IMBB each week is for this lipstick. Makes one wonder how many shades there actually are in this range!!

The shade I’m going to review today is “Very Coffee”, another brown from my mother’s vanity, which is a pure coffee brown shade with no pink/orange/red undertones and is one of those colors that flatter almost all Indian skin tones. Read on to know more about this versatile lipstick.

My take on Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Very Coffee:

The packaging of velvet mattes is decent…a clear plastic tube with one end showing the color. I would personally like the packaging to be sturdier and classier but at this price, who can complain!
Colorbar velvet matte lipsticks are much loved for their consistency. They are smooth, yet firm. They display amazing tenacity in all weathers and seasons; they do not melt off during summers, and do not harden up in winters. The color pay-off is amazing. One swipe provides an even, opaque coverage and covers up pigmented lips efficiently. The formula is creamy enough and does not dry out the lips. However, a few hours down the line it might begin to feel slightly dry.

Coming to the color, Very Coffee is exactly what its name suggests…a pure coffee brown shade which would suit almost all the Indian skin tones. The texture is a creamy semi-matte which is exactly how I like lipsticks to be. The lipstick can be applied with a light hand for daytime wear and worn full power during the evenings, so the shade is versatile in that sense. The color looks especially good with a coat of n*de gloss on top, making for a subtle yet classy lip look. Women with pigmented lips will love this shade as it would completely cover up the pigmentation.

The staying power of colorbar velvet mattes is really great and it’s a blessing for people like me who are not into touching up their makeup on an hourly basis. The color doesn’t budge easily and stays on for 4-5 hours even with a full meal in between. Colorbar velvet mattes are notorious for staining pink as they fade, but I haven’t noticed any such staining with this particular shade.

Pros of Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Very Coffee:

• A pure coffee shade that would flatter most Indian skin tones.
• Well pigmented and glides smoothly.
• Very long lasting.
• Fades evenly and does not leave behind a pink stain.
• Easily available.
• Inexpensive.

Cons of Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Very Coffee:

• Might start feeling a bit dry after a few hours of wear.
• Packaging could be better…though at this price I shouldn’t really be complaining!

Recommendation:

Very coffee is a versatile shade that would flatter most Indian skin tones, and can either be toned down, or layered on as per the occasion, making it a great option to have in your vanity. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipsticks perhaps deliver more than your money’s worth since they are creamy, pigmented and long-lasting. And there’s a plethora of shades to pick from! Totally recommended!

Lotus Herbals Pure Colors Lipstick – Burnt Siena

Hello Everyone!

I have no idea why I am not attracted to pinks and reds. Only yesterday, I was arranging my wardrobe according to colour and I did not find a single piece of clothing either in pink, red, coral or anything near. On the other hand I own a buck-load of stuff in browns. Same with my makeup; be it eye-pencils or eye shadows or lipsticks, I own a large number of items in browns, bronzes, coppers and I have no idea why I keep buying these shades. It is not like I hate the pinks or reds. I do purchase them once in a while, but with the browns, I am like a serial buyer. Mental note to self: get a pink lipstick. But for today, I am going to review a bronze lipstick that I bought recently, Lotus Herbals Pure Colors Lipstick in the shade Burnt Siena.

Rs.245 for 4.2g. , I got it at a 50% discount.

Product Description:

Pure Color is a 100% vegetarian range of moisturizing lip colours available in 22 rich, sophisticated shades including peaches, pinks and nutty browns.

Enriched with the botanical extracts of Aloe Vera and Jojoba. No other ingredients mentioned on the website.

My Experience with Lotus Herbals Pure Colors Lipstick in Burnt Siena:

The case is I don’t-really-know what colour, please see the picture and let me also know, with golden graphics about it. The packaging is not pretty, not ugly, but utterly boring. As far as I think the cap won’t come undone in the bag, so it is travel friendly. The colour is a nice rich copper in the bullet. On the lips, it does appear to be copper but the richness that was promised in the bullet sublimates in thin air. This shade is a bit too sheer, so much so that in spite of seven to eight swipes, it does not hide the pigmentation on my lips entirely. Also, it has tiny golden shimmer particles but not overboard. It could be worn to work. This colour would look good on fair to wheat-ish complexioned women. It wouldn’t show on the darker-complexioned beauties. This particular lipstick, is creamy and moisturizing, it’s almost as if you’re applying a lip balm. The pigmentation is not all that great. It is extremely sheer. The staying power is not all that great too. At best, this particular shade would stay for two hours, before it starts to vanish into thin air. Taking this lipstick off would be no big deal. It is so sheer it could even be wiped by the back of your hands. While I am a fan of copper lipsticks, this one’s fit to be skipped.

Pros of Lotus Herbals Pure Colors Lipstick in Burnt Siena:

• Creamy.
• Good pigmentation.
• Travel-friendly; will not open in the bag.
• Affordable.
• Great office-wear shade.

Cons of Lotus Herbals Pure Colors Lipstick in Burnt Siena:

• This shade will not suit the darker beauties.
• This one is a sheer shade.
• I’m not a fan of the smell.
• Does not hide pigmentation on the lips.
• Staying power too low.
• Contains shimmer.

Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color Lipstick in Heather Pink Review

Continuing with the Bobbi Brown series, I bring to you today, another lipstick from the Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color range. Since I have already covered the overview of this lipstick range, I will elaborate more on this shade, its story and my experience, rather than about the range itself. The shade I pick for review today is again part of Bobbi Brown’s top 10. Bobbi’s Top 10 refers to her selection of top 10 products, which as per her is “Everything you need to look and feel your best. From flawless skin to standout eyes, Bobbi’s Top 10 will take you from Pretty to Pretty Powerful.”

Product Description:

Rich Lip Color – In Bobbi’s own words – “I love this formula because it combines color-saturated coverage with an uber lightweight texture.” Bright, get-noticed colour. Lightweight, yet intense, Bobbi’s latest formula combines pigments with a clear base to deliver pure, crisp color with just one swipe. Plus, it’s creamy and moisturizing, so lips feel as good as they look. Featured in Real Simple magazine’s “5 Worth-it-splurges” (March 2012) and the Today Show for its long-lasting, non-drying formula as well as wide range of shades that complement all skin tones. These were launched in 12 colours but are now available in 21 colours.

The packaging is standard black case in a black cardboard box. If you like MAC packaging, you would like this. Yes, the shape is different – this has a square packaging rather than round. No indicator for the colour except the name written at the bottom – making it difficult to identify the colour without picking up each one and checking. So to ease this, I store them in the black cardboard box with the name featuring on top of the box.

The Story:

Not only is this range part of the Bobbi Brown Top 1, it is Bobbi’s favorite colour from this range. In her own words “its my go-to shade. Heather Pink is a great everyday neutral that I can swipe on without a mirror.”

Product:

Heather Pink, as per the website, is a “red pink.”

I wouldn’t call it a red pink – its more like a dirty pink with the barest hint of plum in it. Looks a little bit like Mehr – less pinker and definitely not a matte. Its like a no-brainer colour – when you don’t know what to put on your lips, or when you have heavy eye makeup and want lips to be subtle – Heather Pink is the way to go! For me, it’s like a MLBB colour because its not really nude – there definitely is visible colour which is excellent for hiding lip pigmentation but still giving a natural look.

Would be perfect for working women – the one lipstick you carry in your bag at all times – is easy to apply, neutral colour, does not dry your lips!

The texture is same as Rose Blossom and Old Hollywood reviewed earlier – it glides on the lips giving full coverage in a single swipe. The product goes on like a gel – its not exactly creamy and neither is it buttery. Its smooth, very light and well pigmented with a semi-matte finish. It lasted about 5 hours on my lips.

To sum it up for you:

Pros of Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color Lipstick in Heather Pink:

Perfect office colour – subtle, no-brainer, easy to pair with any eye makeup, easy to apply.
Exceptional lightweight texture.
Does not bleed or feather.
Does not dry the lips or accentuate the fine lines of my lips.
Will suit most skin tones.
Sturdy packaging – clicks shut – does not come loose in the bag!
Excellent pigmentation.
It has SPF 12!

Cons of Bobbi Brown Rich Lip Color Lipstick in Heather Pink:

The price might be a con here but gets justified by the product quality and quantity both.
Easily dupable colour.
The product does not have any fragrance.

As a product, the lipstick is great. The only reason I deduct 0.5 point here is because its an easily dupable colour. If I had to pick one lipstick between Mehr and this one – I would probably take this for the texture, mattes are drying on my lips.

Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color in 422 Review

Today again, its a Lakme Satin Enrich Lip Color from my side and this time it is shade number 422. After having a not-so-good experience with shade no. 137, I did not want to buy another color online, but I got this particular one for free. I ordered 137 online and so when I received it, it was broken from the base. When I complained about this to the customer care, they asked me to choose another shade from the same line and so I ended up getting this one.

Packaging:

The lipstick has a very simple and non-fancy packaging. It comes in a maroon packaging with a strip of golden colour at the center which says Lakme. Except this, the only thing written on the packaging is “Lakme Enrich Satin 422.” The lipstick doesn’t have any name; it is recognized only by numbers.

Ingredients:

No ingredient is mentioned anywhere.

Product Description:

Cast a spell in satin. Rich color takes life in a luxuriously creamy stick that brings satin to your lips. Enriched with sunscreens, vitamins and the goodness of olives, your lips will have a story to share. Indulge in a pod of beautiful shades ranging from floral pinks to shimmering peaches.

My Take on Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color in 422:

422 is a shade of maroon which sometimes seems with undertones of brown. It is a complete non-shimmery shade which does not look matte on the lips. It has some kind of glossiness which stays for a long time. This particular shade is high in pigmentation; one swipe is enough to get bold colored lips. To reduce the color of the lipstick, I sometimes use it with a brush and spread it properly. Due to its dark color and high pigmentation, it gives a good staying power. Normally, it easily stays for around 3 hours (without heavy meals) after which it does start to fade, but still leaves some pigmentation on the lips. The formulation is not sticky but it may dry your lips. I prefer using a balm before applying it.

The thing I don’t like about these lipsticks is the smell. There is something really weird about the smell, it irritates me while I try to apply the lipstick, but thankfully the smell disappears just after few minutes. Another negative point about the lipstick is that it is transferable. It easily gets transferred on the cups. But this can be ignored as even after fading some color remains on the lips.

This is my third lipstick from this range and it’s not the best, but I do like it more than the other 2 I have (423 and 137). I just hope that the company thinks a little more about the packaging and having names and not the numbers, it’s really difficult to remember the shades by numbers.

Pros of Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color in 422:

Good pigmentation (one swipe is enough).
Does leave some color even after meals.
Non shimmery.
Smooth to apply.
Non sticky.
Affordable.

Cons of Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color in 422:

Has a weird smell which I do not like.

Would I Repurchase Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color in 422?

Although I was sure that I don’t want to try other colors from this range, but after using this I think that I might try some brighter shades from this range.

Do I Recommend Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color in 422?

If you like such shades, this is an affordable option and can be tried.

1. Faces Canada Satin Matte Lipstick Berry Brown : The texture is very smooth and the finish is water shine and glossy, but overall, these are FANTASTIC lipsticks!

2. Lakme Absolute Matte Lipstick-Toasted Brown This lipstick glides on very softly and smoothly on lips. It doesn’t settle into fine lines. It doesn’t smudge or bleed. I didn’t find it to be drying on my lips but still, I prefer to apply a lip balm beneath it because it is matte and my lips are already very dry due to winters.

3. Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick- Saddle Brown The shade is an absolute matte, it is a classic rusty – brown which Shahrukh’s Gauri must have worn during the 90′s and since then I have been obsessed with this shade,somehow it works for warm skin tones and not for pinker skin tones, I feel it brightens up my face in a sophisticated way.

4. VOV Lipstick in Choco Brown : It is a wonderful shade of peachy brown. Single swipe would serve for college goers like me and double swipe would be best to get a fully fledged color.

5. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick-323 Baked Brown : The shade is a pure cream, no shimmer no frost and this would go really well with darker skin tones and they would be very comfortable in this shade for office as well. The color has some maroon undertones as in its not very dark brown but kind of a soft brown when it fades and even in one swipe.

6. L’oreal Glam Shine Cream Lipstick – Brown When I first glided that thing on my lips, it just melted and it is was so creamy. Just one swipe gives the perfect colour and shine. The lipstick is nice, smooth and pigmentation is rather okay.

7. Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick Autumn Rush In one swipe it can really be an MLBB color but more than three swipes it shows up as a classic brown, it is very moisturising too but again not as creamy as the moisture extreme ones.

8. Faces Satin Matte Lipstick: Chestnut This is in the Satin Matte Finish and is super duper creamy. It glides on my lips like butter and has awesome pigmentation that covers the lips in one swipe only.

9. Faces Go Chic Lipstick Chestnut Brown The shade is well suited for office and everyday wear. It can also be worn along with smokey eye makeup. The lipstick is a good investment for the price. The texture and pigmentation is comparable to lipsticks of higher range.

10. Elle 18 Color Pops Lipstick Cocoa Creme 14 It’s brown as in cappuccino brown only a shade or two darker. It can be nude brown for few people. It looks orangey even from a distance. Orange is almost negligible but as it fades it can be noticed on lips without any pigmentation like mine.

11. Inglot Matte Lipstick No 406 : It is a true peachy brown lipstick. Why I say peachy? I feel it has some peach undertones. It is one of those cinnamon warm browns, very FALL and very WINTER. I usually use this when I want to have a warm earthy look.

12. L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick – Brazil Nut Brazil Nut is a brown which is such a ravishing copper brown color without shimmers. It’s a very apt shade which also works as a neutral shade on dusky beauties. Even if I apply it as a subtle touch up, it gives me a sheer n* de stain. In multiple swipes, it gives a bronze effect on lips.

13. L’Oreal Infallible Lipstick in Mesmerizing Merlot I have never come across such a beautiful brown shade as “Mesmerizing Merlot” that can be worn for any occasion, any day rather every day. The texture of the lipstick is very smooth and creamy and gives a semi-matte finish.

My Experience with Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color – 142:

I always wanted to try Lakme Enrich Satin Lipcolors. All the reviews said that they have awesome quality and moreover, now when they had launched new shades in this range, I desperately wanted to try a few. They have awesome range of pinks and peaches. I finally ordered a few shades from this range from an online site and #142 is one of the shades I ordered. I saw it once at a Lakme counter and liked this color a lot. So, this color was the first one I added to my cart.

Lakme Enrich Satin Lipcolor has maroon, rectangular, sturdy packaging. The packaging is quite boring but since it’s quite affordable, I don’t mind the boring packaging. The shade name is written at the bottom, but there’s no transparent cover or base to identify the shade without opening the cover. Well, this poses a problem if you have a few lipsticks from this range. It has a strong lock, so no chance the cover unlocks by itself in the handbag or purse.

Number 142 is a mixture of brown and coral color. It looked more coral than brown when I swatched it in the store, but now, I can see clearly in natural light that it has more brown tones than coral tones. It has a glossy sheen to it. This color doesn’t have any shimmer. This color looks light brown on my lips. It hardly looks coral on my lip, though I bought it because I thought it was coral. This color will suit fair to medium skin tones the best. It will wash out warmer and dusky skin tones. This color might be a MLBB shade for many Indian skin tones. I like that this color doesn’t look bold or bright on my face and I can easily wear it in the day and in sunlight. This color can be easily worn to college or office on light makeup days.

Though this color comes out quite pigmented on my arm, it took at least 3 swipes for it to show up well on my lips. The glossy sheen stays on for about half an hour and then it looks matte. This lipstick glides on very softly and smoothly on my lips. It doesn’t dry my lips at all. A lip balm isn’t must beneath this lipstick. It stays on my lips for about 3 hours.

Pros of Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color – 142:

This color might be MLBB shade for many Indian skin tones.
A good casual, neither bold nor bright color, which can be worn easily at college and offices.
Glides on very softly and smoothly on my lips.
Moisturizing.
Glossy sheen.
Decent staying power.

My Experience with Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color 145:

I ordered a few Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Colors online a few weeks ago, I have already reviewed a few. I have already reviewed shade 142 and now, I am reviewing shade 145. I expected shade 142 to be prettier than 145. I was expecting a very average color from 145, but when I got my order and tried both of these lipsticks; I liked 145 more than 142.

Lakme Enrich Satin Lip Color Shade 145 has a mixture of coral, pink and brown in it. It has more pink and coral than brown. There is no shimmer and the shade has glossy sheen to it. This color looks light pale pink on my lips. It hardly looks coral on my lips. In bright light, you can see the coral tones it has. This shade tilts towards peach. This color will suit fair to medium skin tones the best. It will wash out warmer and dusky skin tones. This color might be a MLBB shade for many Indian skin tones. I like that this color doesn’t look bold or bright on my face and I can easily wear it in the day and in sunlight. This color can be easily worn to college or office on light makeup days. This is not the type of color which will instantly lift up a dull face and give a glow to it, but it just gives a hint of color to the face. It will look good on no-makeup days.

The pigmentation of this color is neither very poor nor too good. It takes two swipes to build an opaque coverage and to make sure that it covers the pigmentation of my lips completely. The glossy sheen stays on for about half an hour and then it looks matte. This lipstick glides on very softly and smoothly on my lips. It doesn’t dry my lips at all. A lip balm isn’t must beneath this lipstick. It stays on my lips for about 3 hours and leaves a pink tint on my lips after meals. This lipstick doesn’t settle in lines and doesn’t bleed.

This color might be MLBB shade for many Indian skin tones.
A good casual, neither bold nor bright color, which can be worn easily at college and offices.

This is my fourth one from this collection, I already own:

So this one is a true fall color, it is a rusty red maroon and a very deep shade, sometimes it feels like it has a red or brick undertones,another light makes it look like a maroon or berry toned one.So over all this is a classic deep shade and would look very vampy if not worn appropriately.

The lipstick is slim but I am not happy with the plastic wuality they have used, for 599 they could have done better and mind you 600 is not a small amount for such a slim lipstick, never mind this is a long wear lipstick but anyways. You need to open just a bit and apply it an it is nice to fill in the lips since the tip is so tiny, it is very pigmented so you dont need to go on an on.

Having said that, the shade is so bold that I dont know where to stop, the shade would look uneven an settle in the lines,but if I go for more than one swipe it really gets darker, so I think blending with the fingers is not a bad idea. Or you need to smile and keep lips taut and go in the lip lines as well.

But the shade is matte and feels a little sticky initially, and then it feels fine, two swipes will last you through meals, and tea and snacks so it is long lasting no doubt, you can count on it for 5-6 hours easily and it makes this lipstick great for office. It sets and does not bleed at all, and stays put, but might transfer very little but that is not a problem at all.

Though it is matte, I dont think this is drying at all, it feels pretty comfortable but your lip lines would be more prominent with this one, but it does live upto its claims of being long wearing, and stays put, has many shades to choose from. It is water proof and creamy and high coverage like mentioned, but i think the packing could have been more chic.Overall, you must try one shade for 599, it will not disappoint you if you love long lasting lippies.

How’s your week going along, mine is going good Thanks to the beautiful climate in Bangalore, I was so lazy to step out and enjoyed my days watching the rains and sipping hot soups and eating muffins most of the time. While organizing my makeup kitty, I found this abandoned brown beauty which I bought long ago and had almost forgotten about it.

My Experience with Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – Iced Mocha:

I love brown lip colours for office wear, I feel they look very elegant and not over the top, and looks good with most outfits, you will find the Revlon Chocolate Velvet lipstick any time in my bag, its must have for me. During one of my searches for the brown lipstick, I picked up Revlon Iced Mocha. Since I was in a hurry, I had to quickly swatch the shades on my hand and I chose this one. I usually try the shades on my lips before buying. After a few days of my purchase, when I tried it again, I felt it was a bit darker because it washed me out completely or rather I was not used to wearing such a dark shade of brown. Also, I feel that such dark brown shades are generally worn by mature ladies, mostly to hide their pigmented lips.

I was a bit disappointed and hardly used it; however recently, I tried applying it with a brush to tone it down a bit and then topped it with a light coloured lip gloss to make it work for my complexion. I also tried mixing it with other shades to create a new one.

The texture of the lipstick is very smooth and creamy. It glides on like a dream which is the USP of Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. The lipstick remains for a decent 2-3 hours without food or drink in between. It fades away leaving a brown shade. The lipstick’s texture is good for chapped lips as it provides a good amount of moisture. This lipstick gives a nice glossy look without using lip gloss above it.

The lipstick is easily available across stores and is decently priced.
